ST JUSTIN PAPERKNIFE

The St Justin  Paperknife  has a pewter handle with an embossed knotwork design on a chrome-plated steel blade.

The Celts used knotwork to decorate many of their artifacts. To them, the intricate patterns woven into spirals and knots symbolise the continuity of life.

In the second half of the 19th Century paperknives (originally used for sharpening quills) evolved into a narrower and more pointed blade for the opening of self gummed envelopes
