FOOCH VOL 2
FOOCH VOL 2
Fooch vol 2 Multi-instrumentalist Neil Davey, and his family, have been integral to the great revival and further development of Cornish traditional music which we have seen over the past few decades. He is a professional musician who has introduced many people to Cornish music through his numerous recordings and live performances throughout the world in various bands over the years. In recent years he is best known as a member of the bands Dalla and Skillywidden, and his duo Davey & Dyer.
Fooch 2 is a further collection of 64 of Neil’s favourite Cornish tunes, following the huge popularity of Fooch volume 1. As before, Fooch 2 contains 2 CDs with all the tunes on, played both slowly, for learning, and then up-to-speed as he would normally play them, with all the decorations and improvisations that bring them to life – great for playing along with, getting inspiration from, or just listening.
The book includes an introduction to Cornish music and how this has developed and grown, and in particular describes the emergence of the ‘nos lowen’ style of Cornish social dancing and the music that goes with this. As with Fooch 1, the tunes are grouped into sections on each of the main rhythmic categories, and, new to Fooch 2, each section has introductory notes on the background of that type of tune and the corresponding dances.
